A Burns Supper to Remember

Here at Mearns View, we love a good get-together, and there’s nothing quite like Burns Night to bring everyone together for a proper Scottish celebration! Traditions like these are so important, especially for our residents, as they bring back fond memories, spark conversation, and make everyone feel part of something special.

Our Burns Supper was a night to remember, filled with laughter, music, and, of course, haggis! The evening kicked off with the piping in of the haggis, and what a treat that was! Our young piper, dressed in full Highland dress, played beautifully as he made his way through the home, much to the delight of our residents.

Next came the grand entrance of the haggis, proudly carried in by our fantastic chef, who looked delighted to be part of the tradition. Once it was safely in place, we had the Address to a Haggis, with plenty of good-humoured toasts and a few laughs along the way. Then it was time to tuck in! Haggis, neeps, and tatties were served up, along with a few other tasty treats, and there was a real buzz around the dining room as everyone enjoyed their meal.

The best part of the night was seeing our residents chatting away, sharing stories of Burns Nights gone by, and having a good giggle. There were also toasts and a few verses of poetry and everyone enjoyed joining in with the familiar traditions with friends.
